If it's the Holidays, I want to be around my Family. Mexico will be there next year and the year after from the sound of yall's relationship.

Compromise it out. Got down there for Christmas, and come back up early for New Years.

Let's meet a deal. Go to San Luis, it's a beautiful place and the people there aren't that bad. If it gets bad for any reason, get to Monterrey and I'll go pick you up to bring you back state side. I know you won't need me to, that's why I am offering. Spend time with your woman and her family. Some of us missed the holidays at home and your age for much different reasons, yours is a good reason. 2 weeks in Mexico will get you fat and you will be picked on. It's in a Mexican's nature to poke fun at others. If they don't do it, they don't like you. We've never met a stranger and having the parents AND grandparents seal of approval will go a very long way with the rest of her family.
This coming from a real Texican born and raised on the border.
Good luck in Mexico and don't worry about hunting over there, you can do that here. Spend time with her and do what she wants to do. Let her show you the other part of her life, the one you don't know yet

Thanks GarGuy! Away from topic, I really enjoy all the great hunting stories you share with us. I used a lot of your advice and even though I didn't harvest a mature buck this year, I had many close encounters with deer of all sizes (Bow hunted most of the year)! I learned a lot that works and doesn't work for next season!

If you are heading toward serious with this gal, spending time with her around her family is never a bad thing. It will either reinforce where things are going, or could raise some questions. When you hitch your wagon to a girl, you get the whole package typically. It sounds like it will be a great time, but this is a great opportunity to experience her with her family, and also potentially make some friends. The hunting component is always extra...but...you never know what kind of fruit new friendships with her family may produce.

There will be many more hunting seasons and family holidays waiting for you. I would also consider what message your absence could send to her family, even if you're on good terms with them, etc. if it were me, i would go. But I know whatever you feel God is leading you to do is the right choice
