Depends alot on your situation as far as usage goes.
Me personally, I would prefer a sxs, mainly cause Im rarely alone and having someone straddle you on an atv gets old. I tend to keep a lot of "junk" with me so having the extra room and storage is nice.
The only experience ive had with sxs are with a polaris ranger, kawasaki mules and the teryx and a can am commander. Of all of these, Id go with a mule or ranger but dang it polaris sure is proud of their stuff

Search feature is your friend as to brands. Talk about opening a can of worms.
As for SxS vs. traditional ATV, depends on your usage. I love a SxS, but hate the weight and size of them seeing I hunt in thick woods where it is tight and very muddy. I opted for Honda Pioneer 500 because it is the size of a traditional ATV, but a SxS. Most people would say it is too small, but fits exactly what I was looking for.
Btw, I came out of a Mule 3010 and that thing was a BEAST with 1200+ hours on it. Still going strong, just too heavy and big for my needs.Last edited by Greenheadless; 11-25-2015, 10:53 PM.

I have 3 atvs and a suzuki samurai.
I say - it depends on what your place looks like.
Thick w trees or wide open ?
Lots of people plan to come out or a few ?
Kids who would want to ride atvs or no ?
Lots of variables.
You can always pick up a Kawasaki Bayou 220 atv for farting around w for $1000. On craigslist if you decide to get the UTV and still want an atv.
Never buy NEW

I put around 6k miles a year combined on 3 atvs. Then got a mini truck. It had its place as well. Now I'm back to atv more. A sxs in my hunting area is useless in wet conditions. They still get there... But my lord at the effort it takes them
Both a great in there place. For the cost of a sxs now... I'd buy a jeep or Toyota. Go buy a 10k dollar jeep and drive it 5 years and you have a $9500 jeep to sell. Buy a 10k sxs and in 5 years you got a $5k sxs

there is a place and a time for each of them.
let's see.....right now we have a small truck (not running just yet), a Jeep, a crew Ranger, a electric Ranger and a four wheeler.
we probably use the Jeep most of all, the crew sits at the lease and is hardly used but is a really nice ride, the electric gets used all the time around the house, and the four wheeler is nice because I can throw it in the back of the truck and go. It does suck to fill a feeder off of a Foreman, but it sure beats humping corn through the woods.

SXS is the way to go. I have thought about this for a while. 4 wheeler is just to small and an older truck or lease ride may not be that reliable. If you buy a new side by side you have a warranty and a dependable ride.

S X S for sure. I've driven Gators, Mules, Kabota Diesel, all good machines, and My Polaris. Polaris is by far the smoothest I have ever driven at any speed and could do it faster. I need speed for TTT deer trapping on the ranch. My diesel Crew will do about 42 with four grown men and four doe in the back. My 900 Ranger is friggin scary fast. It still has peddle at 55, which id flying on ranch roads. I think some others have started catching up quality, speed, and smoothness of ride, but Polaris has been there for a while.
