I had a boar about 175 pounds do that opening weekend. He caught my wind and did the same you described at about 15 yards. Surprising how loud his sniffing and growling was at 15 yards.

I think it's definitely a hog, they do this when they know something isn't right, typically right at the wood line near the feeder.

No dirt at all. Its all rock on that side.
