not rally... is an ANGRY pig... like, he is about to eat somebody.... the ones I've heard are shorter... the one on the video is what they make when dogs have them bayed but catch dog isn't there yet

I'm with the "it's a Big Boar" crowd as well. I've heard it up close and it will make you second guess the decision to be on the ground in a pop up bow hunting! Lol

My biggest Adrenalin rushes have been in a brush blind on the ground with pigs growling all around me, hard to beat

You have described a big hog getting your wind and growling perfectly. This is especially true of an old sow with piglets, but if that had been the case, the piglets would have been ahead of her and you'd for sure have heard them and probably seen them. Boars will do it too, and for all the world it sounds like the meanest, baddest, monster in the woods. It is a very low pitched growl that often lasts several seconds... no grunting or other hog-sounding noises, just a mean-sounding gnarly growl. Don't care how big of a bad-A you are, that sound, especially in the dark will get your heart pumping.

Edit: They will also blow and sniff loudly when doing this as you described too.

I've sat out in S. Texas and listen to the loudest, lowest, meanest sounding hog make all kinds of noise....all the time thinking I'm bout to see a huge hog walk in, then in walks a little 20lber that thinks he owns the world. I always get a kick outta how big they make themselves sound.

The big one making the noise probably never came in and only the little one did. At least 90% of the time when you hear a pig growl, it will not come in.

Yep, it was a pig you heard. Big boars can be extremely sneaky.

Get a camera on that feeder and see what he looks like. If you hunt him, he'll probably come in down wind every time. Try hanging back until he's in, then stalk up on him.

Not so much angry as, "I know you are near, but I am not so sure I am the one that needs to back off!". I was hunting at a friends horse ranch Monday morning and heard the same sound on the other side of a small stand of cedars; just one growl followed with a big sniff and then he was gone. The wind was swirling and I reckon he caught a better wiff of me and disappeared. I get more jacked up when a fox screams when I am on my way to the stand in the morning darkness. That sound always catches me off guard!

I have a camera there. Tons of pictures of lots of pigs. Biggest pig we have seen on that property barely breaks 150lbs
