Yep sorry guys on my phone and missed the "s" on that post.

There are some leases worth the money and some people that just want to gouge you

Or you can have all that for free on public land & wait in line likes it an Apple Store before the new iPhone!

due to the recent Duck Dynasty hype, public land hunting has gotten waaaaaay out of control as there are lots of Willie Robertson wanna-be's who have no business being in the outdoors

another thing, not uncommon for some duck hunters to have $10,000 tied up in a quality retriever

I, my brother, can testify. My duck lease costs much more than my deer lease and Abby has probably cost me close to that, with purchase, training, vet, etc. In her prime, we hunted waterfowl all over North America and the value of a top-notch retriever is immeasurable.

God is that ever true! I'd rather sit on a private pond and shoot 6 ducks then wake up at 3am to guard a spot that some jack wagon will end up sitting 75 yards from. Hate to say it but we need about 2-3 solid winters of terrible hunting/weather and it might get back to being somewhat bearable again...

Y'all think one hole is expensive? Try having 13! No but seriously a guided hunt is the way to go $185 a gun you can hunt a lot and not spend as much as a lease.

Very tricky to find a good one at a reasonable price! A lot of people get gouged BADLY on duck leases. It's very easy to over hunt a place, especially when you're not really in an area with a lot of ducks. There are some good ones in my area, but they have certainly gotten more expensive in the last few years, largely due to out of staters. I'm sure the beard and face paint thing will cool off eventually, but it's the tendy thing for now and duck hunting IS a lot of fun.

It's not impossible to find a good lease, but it will take some leg work!

Oh a 5500$ to split a pit!?^^^ I am about to skip work and go sink some tomorrow if I can get that rate!

I'll never forget hunting deer in the morning and then shooting ducks 'til 11 for a couple of the good years when things were wet in the Panhandle. We have a wet year again, but our bogs aren't full right now, but we almost got our limits while jumping ponds a couple times a day this weekend while hunting quail and deer. A duck lease is overrated!!!!

I have been in this game for many years. You will never come out. The paid hunts in great areas are my go to now. I will venture down to the Mississippi delta out of Venice when the times right but that's about it..

There is a overall hunting club on the north side of Galveston county that has a annual membership of 10,000 or so I hear just so that someone can go duck hunting. I can get more than enough hunts a year with a guide for that amount and I don't have to do much of it. Doesn't make sense to me.

I lived in Wyoming one winter 10 or 12 years ago.
They have lots of ducks, most every pond is covered up.
I went up to a ranchers house and asked permission to hunt his ponds.
I told him I was from East Texas and that we loved hunting them.
He told me " Son you live in Wyoming now, we have Elk, mule deer, whitetails and antelope. "

He put his hand on my shoulder and with a sad look on his his face said
" You dont have to eat ducks any more "

If you are thinking about getting a duck lease and investing the money on: boat, waders, gun, shells, decoys, mojos, calls, gear, ect. I would seriously do some homework on the place, and just cause you see ducks in the area does not mean they will come by your spot at all! We have a bunch of spots in SW La. and 150 yards could mean birds or no birds.
