Just so you're understanding correctly, the deer in the pics you posted would need to be 13" inside spread as both sides are branched.

It makes no difference if a buck is a 4pt(2x2) or a 14pt(7x7). If both sides are branched, it has to be 13" inside.



The one you are calling an older buck in the first post, looks to be less than 13".

It's hard to tell without a head-on shot though.



The one you are calling a nice 8 in the 2nd post, looks to be wider and will probably be at least 13".

See what I mean about that nice 8. He's not narrow at all. Not super wide either. But well past 13.

The 8 is nice. What do you have him at Jason- 17" or 18" width? He looks younger than the funky buck too.

16.5-17. That funky buck is a tad wider than you think. I've passed him over several times. With that said he not "wide". But he's an inch to inch and a half past 13. He's deceptive. His rack is so tall he's actually impressive when he's 15 yards away even with those short points. His side profile is shaped like a Woodland Caribou. Now he's not gonna score but between 100-110.
