    Antler Restriction Question.

This older buck showed up. He is an 8 (3X5). Is he legal in an AR County? I'm not in any rush to shoot. Just wondering.

Also I just snapped these on my phone. Still going thru 1284 freakin pics.

Hard to tell with every pic broadside. I'm sure if you saw him in person you'd be able to determine. He does seem narrow but can't say.

I've seen em several times. He's 14.5-15.5 ish. He's just not what I wanted to burn a tag on but he's a good one to burn a tag on at the same time.

Unless one side has no branches, the number of points mean nothing in AR counties.
The 13" spread is the criteria.

Oh so it's only the 13" on a branched both sides buck. Gottit. He'll shoot then. I've seen a big ten but he burned off when the rut hit here a couple weeks ago.

If one side is unbranched, the 13" rule does not apply.
If both sides are branched, then it has to be 13" inside.

You can have a deer with a spike on one side and 6pts on the other.
The 13" rule would not apply, and he would be legal under AR.

I found this skull in my pasture a couple of years ago.
This buck would be legal under AR since one side is unbranched.

I new that about the one branched side and the an unbranched side. Wasn't sure about the 3 on one side. If I do shoot he'll be the first one I've shot since AR started that didn't have atleast 4 on each side. I wasn't sure so I figured I'd check before hand.

Just so you're understanding correctly, the deer in the pics you posted would need to be 13" inside spread as both sides are branched.
It makes no difference if a buck is a 4pt(2x2) or a 14pt(7x7). If both sides are branched, it has to be 13" inside.

The one you are calling an older buck in the first post, looks to be less than 13".
It's hard to tell without a head-on shot though.

The one you are calling a nice 8 in the 2nd post, looks to be wider and will probably be at least 13".
Again, it's hard to tell without a head-on shot.

I've watched both of em. The 3X5 is pushing 14.5-15 and the 4X4 is a couple inches wider.

You're good to go then, fire away.

Waiting on a bigger 8 and a big 10 to come back. Which means at the end of the year I'll still be sitting on a tag. [emoji13]
