Everything I tell you is only my opinion so take it for what it cost you.

I would not spend any money on a resistor cart unless you plan to leave it stock and use it to check the mail.

well, that's why my dad originally bought it, to check the mail

I had a 1987 marathon, I ran it for over 15years on 300 acres in Pearsall Texas, other than batteries and a solenoid every now and then, it was a great cart, plenty of power all day long. it wouldn't win a speed contest but It ran strong all day. Had a lift kit and bigger tires
Just sold it to TBH'er BigTodd.
