In the first ever murder, Cain killed Abel with a rock. All other violence stemmed from that killing.

      Ban rocks!!

You cannot legislate by the beatitudes. Tolstoy thought you could a few centuries ago.
Societies still have to be governed by the law of Moses, especially when considering the reprobate mind.

This guy can claim to be Baptist if he wants to. One of the fundamental Baptist principles has been separation of church and state (freedom of religion, not FROM religion) considering how hard some Virginia Baptists lobbied Jefferson. I point this out because this guy could save a lot of time in not trying to apply the sermon on the mount as a legislative tool. This is shallow and a misinterpretation of biblical principles at best, and an argument against personal liberties at worst.

I loled. Hard. And I'm baptist.

To honestly think religion wants nothing to do with politics is blind. Just looks at the bgct.

The BGCT is a mess... that's why there's 2 state conventions. You can "lol" if you want, but the moment you start trying to impress the latest cultural fad into how you want to legislate morality, you've crossed into a strange land.

And with that being said, I don't consider abortion or euthanasia or such things to be political matters. I consider them to be sanctity of life. This guy is trying to equate gun control to the same measure. It doesn't work.

Still more people dying from alcohol related car deaths, just goes to show you it has nothing to do with death. It's all political.

                I can agree with this.

You know who was a big fan of gun control? Adolf Hitler.......gun control laws were pretty strict in Germany in the 1930's. He controlled who had guns and who didn't. That didn't turn out so well for some folks. There's a saying that history tends to repeat itself.....no thanks. I'd rather it didn't.

The BGCT has been headed down a very liberal (both political and theological) path for a long time. This article, while ridiculous, is not surprising considering the source.

If you happen to be involved in a BGC church, discuss with your pastor/leadership why your church is giving them money still. I would bet that many churches are BGCT today because the pastor hasn't had the support to pull funds from them and move it to a state convention more in line with mainstream political, theological, missional support. Your pastor may just be waiting for a couple of y'all to help him lead the charge.

Many/most church staffers (that I know) don't live in the real world. They live in what I refer to as "church world" where life is all happy and loving, and evidently, that's the same world this editor lives in.

The baptist church I've attended since the '70's is headed down this "liberal" road, and at a point in the near future, I can see myself looking for an exit.

The author contradicts himself or just doesn't understand that the militia is us and none of the proposed solutions would have prevented anything.
