In all seriousness, ... seems people are looking for **** to be offended by now-a-days.
Back in the day, in Tyler.. REL High school drove around town with (confederate flags) the week of the game with JT.
Here's the kicker... The school team name was Rebels .
I never understood where the tradition came from... but it wasnt considered racist until someone got butt hurt about it.
I do remember getting a brick thrown at my truck one evening... I can only assume it was because I was white. I say that, because if I had been black carrying the flag..I dont think I'd have gotten a free brick.

I was there during the cannon days..

A group of seniors tended the cannon at games, firing it when the Rebel football team scored a touchdown. The football team entered Rose Stadium by running under the flag, reputed to be the second largest Confederate flag in the world (second only to one owned by the University of Mississippi). By 1972, the flag was retired and its whereabouts are unknown. The flag was retired shortly after four african-american players refused to run under the flag and ran around it instead, causing some local controversy. OK, let me ask you this.

I coach my grandsons 7 year old flag football team. We bring snacks for halftime. Sometimes it is ziplock bags of fruit. We have one black kid on the team.

If this weeks game I take 7 bags of orange pieces and half a banana and ONE bag of watermelon and said hey Rye I figured you would rather have watermelon.

Acceptable or no?

I live by the rule just don't be a rick with a p. Think about what you're about to do, and say to yourself, does this make me a rick p? It's not about being pc, or anything like that. It's just about being a decent human. On top of political correctness, I think we've just lost some basic decency as human beings. Ours got a basket the other day. Had animal crackers and cheese nips, along with assorted candy and kool aid pops. Are they saying we are rats and animals? Crud NO! our kids were dang happy to get it. they were hungry for a snack at the game. Thats freakin ridiculous. Just looking for something to make a controversy over. Go get em bro....
