Hey who cares about sanctuary cities and illegal immigration as long as we get good prices at the grocery store

My other reason for leanings against HEB stem from when I lived in a city with no other options than them. Their service and inventory was horrible.

Only place I have ever been where they were complete sold out of basics like bread, milk, etc. Not that they did not have the brand or type you liked, but COMPLETELY SOLD OUT OF EVERYTHING!

Lastly, for those that think HEB has variety of selection do not understand HEB's inventory/pricing policies. Variety of choice is antithesis to their stated value proposition.

They had no incentive to improve it either seeing they were the only game in town.

HEB is a great company. They treat their employees great, very flexible for college kids schedules, offer buttloads of scholarships, everything is just top notch compared to most places. When they push a smaller busniess out of town they usually try to buy them out for a generous sum. There was a Baumann's market here in town, very small store for a small town. They bought them out before they finished construction on the HEB. That earned a lot of respect in my eyes, classy move in the business world IMO.
