"Negative, Ghost Rider. The Pattern Is Full."

Anyone ever experienced a flyover on public land? This time of year, especially in Collin county, it's not unusual to have a white, single-engine Cessna fly over, or circle the general area. I always figured it was county surveyors.

This morning, though, I had a similar plane pass me at what looked like a normal altitude over an adjacent field, come about, drop to about 100' or so from the ground, and make a beeline towards me. I was walking in a mowed swath, so I thought he may had tried to land, but about 100 yards away, he throttled up and pulled off.

Weird experience, kinda cool, but if he was there to mess up my hunt, it was a pretty suck thing to do.

I had two stunt planes doing dives and rolls over my area for a few hours Saturday evening. As soon as they left, I shot a doe. =)

He was spying on your setup. You should have shot him down.

It's constant on the place we hunt in McMullen county. Never low but play fighting up high.

Game warden. They start flying real steady at the start of dove season. Been doing it as long as I remember.

Heck, my neighbor has a helicopter and he flies it non-stop on the weekends over his place, my place, neighbors place, etc. Talk about a bunch of unnecessary racket!

They don't do it very often, but yes they sometimes do. Had one in Fannin County actually land in my uncles pasture to check us. This was in the early 1970's. Last year, the white Cessna flew over me at Lavon Lake and tipped a wing at me. Game warden was waiting for me at the gate.

might be flight training. There any airports in the vicinity with a flight school? You can always grab the N number off the side and look it up to see whose it is.

When I was doing forestry work in E. Texas in the early 90's, we would routinely have A-10 Warthogs fly over at treetop level and scare the crap out of us. I never got used to that. It was pretty cool, once the adrenaline settled though.

While on our farm in Kansas my brother and I had 6 B-52's fly over at a very low altitude. It was really cool.
