Hunted in south Texas for years and the fleas and the ticks were terrible on the hogs except in the dead of winter. We used rubbing alcohol. It is cheap and does not contaminate the meat. First thing before loading the hog in the truck we would spray them completely down with the rubbing alcohol; straight, not watered down. It would kill all fleas and ticks on contact. Good luck.

Several years ago when I was taking day hunters to the lease for hogs, it was dry as a bone, and without the mud wallows, the hogs were covered with fleas. You would end up with dozens of them on your arms and hands while skinning. We took duct tape, wrapped our hands and someone stood beside you and "patted" the fleas with the duct tape. Worked like a champ. One thing I always do with hogs--I never use the same knife to gut/skin and to cut up the carcass unless I have access to hot soapy water.
