What am I doing WRONG?? Corn & Vanilla?????

I hand corned mixed with vanilla yesterday and had a yote and a hog that were coming totally avoid the area and go around. Never got a shot and a deer blew behind me about 2 hours later. I don't know if they are scenting me or don't like the vanilla. I know many people use vanilla with great success so I tried to use it.

Would raccoon cover scent on my boots help me or would that spook the deer?

Did you soften the vanilla in the microwave first?
Sometimes if its too hard it wont mix properly.

it might be your area... I know I tried hog wild in my hand corn in Junction and I had deer blowing all around me and running off... down in south texas I would have deer running in with their noses held high bc they loved the smell..

All I can say is maybe mix it with your corn feeder to get em used to it so they relate the smell.

They will avoid vanilla at my place as well.

So Sunday morning I get the my tree stand and before I make the climb I splash the vanilla corn out in my feeder pen. I'm not in the stand 5 minutes and hear something coming..... A buck (big body/small rack) walks straight up to the vanilla corn and sniffs it, doesn't eat any and turns and walks away. He was at 8 yards.....
later I had a small doe and a fawn show up and do the same thing. I really wanted to shoot the doe but just too small for my liking.... Anyway I take pride in knowing there could have been spilled blood.

                      Wow that is really weird,?????
??? All you should have to do is pour the vanilla out and they should come. ????

                      Have you tried pea gravel?

Sounds like they are not used to it.

Maybe I will just go back to using regular corn. Try a little apple corn mixed in.

Before adding additives... you should pay attention to those who gave you the real answer as to why you are no longer seeing your regular visitors.
