Any reason why you need a pistol to bowhunt, other than it's you right to own one. Seems like extra weight to lug around. Now if you hunt down by the border or in east Texas, I can see a reason. Just kidding on the East Texas.

So if you make a bad shot you can use the pistol to finish off the deer. I'm glad they changed it, gives a pretty quick and painless why to finish one if need be

Not during the special archery season!!!!!! During the General season it is fine, but illegal during the archery only season.

And because I'm a female and I walk in the dark to my stand alone. I may be tall and stronger than average for a woman but pound for pound with the average man, unless he's a midget, I'm pretty sure I'd lose.

Sure you can. Thats why they let you carry one now. Too many animals not able to be recovered

You still cannot dispatch a game animal with it during archery only season.. Illegal means and method.

Neither my 15 year old daughter nor I carry during archery only season. Never had a need to and yes she drives to and walks alone to her blind in the dark during the morning and evening hunts and has for the last several years.

However, I think it is a good thing that hunters can now carry during archery season.
