I forgot to mention my other fish story. I was up on the deck and we we're drifting in the river looking for tarpon. I see a wake coming toward me. I have 9 weight in hand with yellow and white clouser. I see a shadow in the wake and figure it's a 30-40 lb tarpon. I'm thinking this is going to be awesome. I make a great 60 ft cast and put the fly right in front of him. Two strips and the fish eats. I strip set and the fight is on. Well, it ended quickly when the leader got cut off. Fish was a really big barracuda. That's my fish stories for the day.
Ready for battle on day 2. Hopefully the tarpon will be rolling this am. Apparently they were more active in the am yesterday. We will fish hard and see what we run in to.
Had a great day. Fished hard and had tons of shots. I think I jumped 8 tarpon and landed one. I did catch one small snook and threw at a bunch. They had severe lockjaw! I landed 7 jacks up to 7-8 lbs. I tried my hardest to catch a permit and landed a fly in a group of 7-8 only to hook up with a bonefish. Kevin hooked a bunch but I believe only landed jacks. He did hook up with a big snook but we couldn't get it to the boat.
Neither of our 10 wts had ever been used. Kevin broke his 8 wt in the Bahamas so that rod is new. My 8 wt had only been to Alaska. My 6 and 9 wts are veterans and have caught tons on trout and reds in Texas.

Little beer and a nap at lunch. Tomorrow will be another day. Really wanting a rematch with tarpon. I love those guys. I broke off two today. Had my rod come apart on a 50 pounder. Had a 30-40 pound tarpon wrap me around some old light house footers. Those pools are tough!
