    Get an electric fence.
One of the high end ones like Gallagher or a Gallagher-clone that puts out 15k+ volts.

If you're worried about deer, electrify the middle wire of the 5 wire fence.
Essentially, pull the staple/clips and install insulators.
Deer will either jump over the top wire or duck under the bottom wire.
The middle wire should not affect them at all.

With only a few cows, any bull you get will eventually go through a non-electric fence.
I've got the same situation. My problem is I have to clear a jungle of huisache, mesquite, rose hedge, briars, yaupons, and poison ivy to get my electric fence back to the fence where he's getting out.
I had a solar charger that worked for a while, but he soon learned that he could simply take a hit or two while pushing the fence into the other wires and short out the fence.

I have a friend that used to have a pitbull mix he would use to round up stubborn cattle. One day a neighbor called asking for help with a bull that had gotten through the fence into an adjoining field for the third time and he was pizzed! When my friend with the dog arrived the man demanded he put the dog on the bull. My friend didn't want to and told the man it would not be pretty but the man insisted soooo......he gave the command and the dog leaped from the truck bed....hit ~20mph....grabbed the bull by the nose in mid stride....went under him and flipped the bull arse over tea kettle.......then absolutely wore the ever lovin !@#$ out of him. When I was over that bull was pouring blood, crossed back to his pasture and never went over the fence again.

Think back to when you were young, and ask yourself what kinda stuff you did to talk to a girl. ...
Some people trade bulls every year. Good for you he's young. Sell him and and buy another. You won't lose money. Try a different breed. You might find a different breed gets you better calves.

Whatever you do, get it tested for Trich!!!! Before you pay for it. Trich can BREAK a calf crop for 2 years.

I believe this would probably work, just might done messing with this bull. I guess it is according to how hard it is to get him on the trailer.

My bull was doing that for awhile when my neighbor didn't have one. Once he got one my bull stayed home.
