Took mine 6-8 weeks to heal. I had a full fracture and a stress fracture in 2 of mine. Coughing or sneezing is the worst.

If you can't stand up and take a full deep breath......you need to get checked.

I have broke ribs a lot. Sometimes doing the same thing you where doing. They hurt like hell and will take a while to heal up. I have some that have been broken more then once. Get checked out by the doc to make sure nothing inside is jacked up.

Thanks guys. I just woke up and went to get out of bed. Then I thought....Nah better not. I didn't really notice it yesterday but not only does my ribs and back hurt but my shoulder does too. It hurts to breath but I really don't have trouble breathing as far as shortness of breath or anything like that. If I get any worse I might have to head to the doctor. I just don't like hospitals and all that so I'm kinda tryin to get around that.lol I don't think I'm hurt too fiercely bad. I mean it hurts don't get me wrong but it could be worse. That wild actin sumbuck could have head butted me in the face or worse yet hit my buddy right square in the back and hurt him bad. I was the youngest guy out there yesterday and he didn't even know the cow was coming back to get him again until I was in the air. If someone was gonna take a hit like that its better it was me that got hit. I'll heal....might take a while but it'll be alright.

Go see the local chiropractor tomorrow. He/she usually has an x-ray machine and will charge you much less than the ER or ortho. He/she can do rib x-rays.

I often get requests like this.

Broke one in football once. It's a painful experience. Sounds to me like you broke one. The fear of course w/ a broken rib is puncturing a lung. If it were me, I'd go get an ex ray just to make sure your not in danger of puncturing a lung. Other than that, there's not much that can be done for a broken rib. It just takes a while to heal.

I wasn't aware that chiropractors had x-ray machines. That might actually be the best case scenario.

Broke five ribs a couple years. Feel for you because they are really painful after a day or so.

Don't know of any that use the old compression wrap treatment. Makes it harder to breathe--something you don't need when the pain from the broken rib makes you take shallower breaths already.

I don't know the prevalence of their current use due to the increased risk of pneumonia, but I will say it reduced the pain tremendously for me. Likely depends on the doctor but I've seen patients as recently as this year with them. Proper patient education can go a long way in preventing pneumonia. Either way he should see a physician to check for internal injury. Even a small internal bleed could cause big problems.

You know....I knew cows were powerful before but after seeing that yesterday I realize just how powerful they really are. I'm not sure if I did a full front flip or not but I asked how high in the air she threw me. They weren't sure but they said my feet were higher in the air than my head.lol its kind of embarrassing but it happens I guess.

I have had 3-4 broken ribs over the years. They are the most uncomfortable because they hurt every time you roll over or even move in bed! Not much can be done except take pain killers and wait for them to mend.

However...if you heard/felt clicking whenever you breath, that sounds bad. I would be concerned about a severely broken rib puncturing a lung. I would definitely get to a doctor for an xray!

I've had my share of broken ribs when I used to ride rough stock. Hurts to laugh or even breath for that matter. Get it checked out by a professional , not the green screen doctors
