    Allergies

Man the ragweed pollen in the air is kicking my butt! Anyone have any good home remedies? I'm trying everything I know right now.

and looking at this map it doesn't look like there are many places I can move to escape it.

Been taking it for the last 3 weeks. Today I took Benydryl-D once every 3 hours. Plus I'm doing nasal spray and eye drops today. I'm also taking a lot of Vitamin C right now. I am even trying the home remedy that I found on the web - mix 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon local honey in 1 cup of water and drink it 2x a day. It sounds worse than it tastes but I'll try almost anything right now.

I also bought the best air filter that I could find at Home Depot hoping it would help some inside my house. It seems to help but this time of year I spend a lot of time outdoors with a nephew playing football, a niece playing softball and either dove or deer hunting on the weekends. I am real close to buying an air purifier for my bedroom just to have one room in the house that I can go to and escape a lot of the pollen.

Find somebody that makes honey from beehives (a bee keeper) in your area. From what I have always understood, the bees collect the pollen from different plants in your area, that of course goes into their honey and can help w/your allergies.

I'm trying it for the first time this year and I can see some differences in the way I feel.

I can't help but feel like Winey The Pooh when I'm getting into the jar for a little snack......LOL!

have you tried claritin-d, i had pretty bad allergies and required surgery and use flonase. i know you dont want to hear that but i had some decent relief with claritin-d, you may want to back off the bendryl a little, could really dry out your sinuses. good luck

Allegra-D has worked wonders for me, even with cedar at the deer lease.

yep that's what I take. It just barely gets me by, sometimes I feel like going postal with a flame thrower on the cedars at the lease. Man I would love to torch those things. Allergies can kiss my arse

I get it bad right before archery season year EVERY year. Just go to doctor, get a shot in the arse and be done with it. I never hesitate to make a b-line for the docs when I feeel it starting. Usually by the end of the day you are good to go and no more worries till the next year!!

I had as bad allergies as possible(got allergy tested). Ive been taking allergy 2x week since July, I feel like I don't even have allergies any more. I have had awful allergies since I was a kid, allergic to everything you could think of. I would look into them.

I'm on week 3 of allergy shots right now. I've been going 2X a week as well. The doc told me I was out of luck for this year, and the only thing he could do was try to help me out with more medicine. He said next year should be better though. I hope so!

A different allergist put me on Zyrtech and Singulair at the same time. It worked pretty well, but when I went in to my regular doctor to get the referral to the allergist I saw a flyer for a new medicine called Xyzal. I got him to give me some samples and the stuff works pretty well for me. I don't sneeze, my head is clear for the most part, and it doesn't make me sleepy. The only thing it doesn't help me with is the itchy eyes. The Allergist gave me some drops called Pataday for that though and it helps a lot.

When I went in to get the refferal, the doctor had asked if I had ever taken any steroids for my allergies. I had never tried it, so he put me on a run of Prednizone. That stuff worked better than anything I had ever tried. I felt totally normal. I guess it's not good to take it all the time though. Might be something else to look into. You could at least get a week or so relief from it using that maybe.

                            It sucks. That's for sure.

I've tried all the meds and even did the allergy shots. I was tested and was allergic to 52 of the 64 things they test for. Luckily most were just minor reaction. My biggest reaction was to ragweed and grass. They tried giving me the shots but by the time I got to full concentration, I had to stop. The first 2x I was so bad that they kept me for further evaluation and almost took me to the ER. Allegra-D and Zyrtec didn't work for me. Claritin-D does OK. Bendryl-D works best for me so I stick to it. Flonase does OK as a nasal spray but I find that a saline nasal spray as a nasal wash works better.
