    Attracting Deer without a feeder

i hunt out in east texas several times a year on a friends property.

in the past i have hunted over feeders out there, but this year i am getting into the woods with a hang-on and sticks.

i will leave the hang-on in the same spot all season, unless i am seeing nothing.

my question is what is the best attractant to use for deer when i can only get to the property every 4-6 weeks?

    thanks

I've had more success with hand corn and a mineral lick than I ever have with a feeder

Edit: I see that the post above and below me says the same thing

Natural food sources. East Texas will have abundant natural food sources even after the first freeze for a while.

I just put two crushed bags of trophy rock out in sulphur springs and not a deer one has touched the stuff so I don't know where your hunting but it may or may not work. I hear a lot of people recommending pure salt and it makes sense if you look at any of the mineral based supplements its the main ingredient..

One of the best things I have seen work at my farm is rice bran, the only problem is once it gets wet they aren't a big fan of it. I'm thinking about purchasing one of those rice bran bags they are selling on craigslist but I'm waiting to see what my buddy thinks about the one he's ordered...

Gonna get lots of opinions here. A 33lb Purina Antler Max protein block for $13, Trophy Rock Mineral Rock 12lbs or Trophy Rock four65 granular 30lbs both $15 will last a while. I have hunted public land a lot the past 2 years I have had good luck with Big and Js BB2 granular sacks of attractant 19lbs $20 or 40lbs $30 also putting out hand corn and mixing some sugar beet crush powder with it 5lb bag $12.

Type in "home made deer attractants" into youtube.

That homemade deer cane looks like a good idea for hog bait.

Trophy Rock 465...the only thing that I have found that the deer come back to day after day and the hogs leave alone.
