                Whatever it is, I bet it hung near the stove or washing machine.

                Although, that's twice you've mentioned that she never threw anything away. I'm struggling to come up with anything gimmicky or otherwise disposable made from cast iron. I'm really not old enough to be participating in this guessing game come to think of it.

                      After thinking about this for a few days. I believe it is a duck decoy weight from back in the 40's. You threw the weight and the decoy filled full of air and floated around the pond! Tubby should remember or anyone about my age.
