A Iowa store had the camper we wanted. Found a dealer in tx for the same price. Called them and bought it. Easiest transaction I've ever had.

Family RV in Sweetwater, tell them Richard sent you. They'll take care of you.

Great people and good friends of mine.

I'm always amazed when people complain about RV sales & service department, but they beat the dealer out of every penny they can when buying a RV. That is why most dealers can't keep a reputable service center open, they can't afford to keep good help or afford to train people. Unlike the car business, it is against the law for RV dealer to receive any hold back money from the manufacturers. Other state dealers get back thousands of dollars for every trailer or motorhome sold, that is against the law in Texas. I use to be in RV sales. I was trying sale a motorhome one time and was competeing with a dealer from Colorado. The invoice on the motorhome was $363,000. I came down to $373,000 and lost the sale to the dealer in Colorado because they sold it for $364,000. The dealer got $30,000 back from the factory.

I bet there isn't one person on TBH that would put out $360K for a $10K profit, but yet complain when a dealer tries to make 10% profit on them. I'm not saying, not be a smart buyer, but don't complain after dealer gives you their profit, and then doesn't take care of you after the sale.

Percent off sticker and or "sale" price depends on how good the sale price is.

I agree 20-35% off stickers prices. When I bought mine I got zero off the sale price because it was cheap (marked down 40% from MSRP) and it was being used as an advertisement to get people in looking at RVs.

It's a 17' Salem Light I bought a year and a half ago. Looking to sell it now if anyone is interested. Super light and easy to tow but not as sturdy as the heavy ones (obviously).

We bought a 2016 model in 2015 sales price was $26k we signed papers at $19k. I personally didn't see the benefit of buying the extended warranty. You can buy the extended warranty after the factory has ran out if you feel like you need to. I started questioning them very hard about what would actually be covered under extended warranty and when it comes down to it not much is.

                30-35% is pretty standard.

I got 55% off on our last one.

With all due respect, Rv dealers bring on a lot of their own pain.....

I've bought and sold 15 in my lifetime and have never met a shadier crowd.....

The depreciation falls like a rock on rv's and trailers, they are worse than cars. Buy them used

LOL, funny, I was off today and my lady and I visited "the only dealer" on 51 north past the bridge....anyone who lives in Granbury knows exactly who I'm referring to. To make a long story short, high as hell and at least for us, have seen MUCH better prices and condition just on TBH! Their best price, for a deer lease type rv, was a FEMA model that was trashed at $5K. We look every day on the GS for that great deal.

Are you really sure you want to buy a brand new one? Man they depreciate so fast. Way faster than automobiles.

We tried for two years to find a one to two year old floor plan we wanted.

For what we are looking at, the used are going as much as the new. Granted most of the comps are in dealer lots.

Take this back to the top. I am dealing with FunTown and have a few different 5th wheels I am interested in. They are stickered with a "sales price" of $29,777. They keep telling me that is as low as they will go...MIGHT knock a few $100 off.

This just doesn't go with what I keep reading about negotiation?

                              Thoughts? Help!

Get the exact model number, then call all the dealers in within 500 miles of you, even out of state, and ask them what there lowest price is. Once you have the lowest, call the one nearest you and ask them to match or beat the price. If you call a ton of other dealers and they are all around $29K then looks like that is the going price.
