    Well with this cleared up it would be bogey in all 3 scenarios

            Debate is over penalty strokes and how it affects the score for that particular hole.

            Three examples we are talking about:

            1) Par 5. Drive goes OB. Hit a provisional and end up taking your provisional instead of original tee shot.

            When you hit your provisional, that would be your third stroke, correct?

            That shot ends up 100 out, you hit your approach and then one putt. Total score for that hole would be a bogey, correct?

            2) Par 3. Tee shot goes into pond. Drop behind pond and get on green, and one put. Total score for that hole is bogey, correct?

            3) Par 4. Tee shot lands behind tree. Player deems unplayable lie. Takes relief no closer to the hole. Approach shot lands off the green, chips on, and one putts. Double Bogey, correct?
            1.) Bogey on your updated explanation of the hole. You really don't get a provisional in the rules though. You are supposed to go look for the 1st shot and if found OB or not found, you go back to the tee to hit your 3rd. For pace of play you hit the provisional but really isn't in the rules to do so, at least PGA rules.

            2.) Bogey

            3.) You do not get to claim "unplayable lie", unless it is specified in course rules. You hit it there and your penalty is having to hit is from where it lies. Some expection apply like cart path or anything unnatural to the course. If you write a double bogey or any score without hitting it from that lie in that scenario, you are DQ'd.

                Sorry I can't help you. I normal don't keep score and the rare occasion I play I'm hitting that little white ball as many times as I can to get my monies worth.

                    Lol no one knows what the heck is happening here! I've never been good enough to worry about how to score. Smack the ball, curse it, put my clubs up, and drink beer.

                      2. one in water, two out, three to green, four in the hole

                      3. one to the tree, two is unplayable lie, three is off green, four is chip, five is in the hole

                      water= 2 strokes
                      OB= 2 strokes
                      Unplayable= 1 stroke
                      Yes!

                        You can always claim "unplayable lie" except in hazards and take relief with a penalty. It is a rule of golf not a course rule.

                          In that case, all bogeys.

                            That's correct. No unplayable just because it was behind a tree. Now if it was IN the tree, that'd be different.
