A password protected camera will work wonderfully for keeping the thief from being able to use your camera that he stole. However, I highly doubt he will return your camera to you once he realizes that it is password protected. That being said, what is the point of your camera being password protected? I have had one in the past that was capable but I did not use the password feature. It was a Moultrie and it was also a huge pile of garbage.

I don't know about other companies, but if you steal my Reconyx and contact them about getting a pw override, they are going to contact me.
And granted that any of the pw cams that get stolen might just end up in the garbage because the thief can't use them...but if it gets stolen from me id rather it end up in the garbage than it being used or sold by the scumbag who took it.
