I shoot a lot at 30-40 and very little at 20 and 50. For whatever reason my money distance is between 27-30 yards? I guess it has to do with how everything lines up for me at that distance.

Yup... Spot and stalk out west is a whole new ball game when you sit in a stand over corn all your life.
Shot a black tail out west at 67yrds. In the 90's but I was 80lbs lighter and shot everyday.

I have shot out to 60 yards quite a bit here lately. For reason of confidence and the thought of preparing myself for a spot and stalk muley hunt or elk hunt in the back country. I have shot out to 100 before just to challenge myself. I actually really enjoyed it a lot and it made my 60 yard shots seem easier. I think that if we don't challenge we will never know our true limitations. Over the past year I have been able to put solo cup size groups at 50 and have gotten now to when I am shooting at 20 and 30 I pick spots to hit instead of grouping. That all being said 160.......im not even sure I could see the target.

I'm no expert, but do any of you worry about penetration and energy at long ranges? I know some of you practice at ranges that you probably would not hunt. What range is bordering on ineffective kill range?
