Before the EPA banned Dursban, Diazinon, and the original formulation of Over and Out, I had no problems keeping them out of my yard with a broadcast spreader.

Now I spot treat the mounds with Bengal UltraDust 2x, which wipes out the mound.

I just have to keep a close eye on it and treat every mound that pops up.

Don't forget Chlordane back in the day.

In the yard but was spotted in the house not sure if my mom brought them in or if they are getting in a different way

All I use is Amdro. I don't treat individual mounds. I just walk all over the yard and sprinkle it out. The ants forage far and wide and pick it all up. I treated 1.5 acs with one 2# container this spring and I have no ants.
