[QUOTE=Hoggslayer;10292252]I had the same problem with mine. Where the wire goes to the distributor, that lug has a insulator on it that cracks sometimes. I push it out and put a piece of heat shrink on it to re-insulate it.[/

I made a cardboard insulator thinking this might be the problem
ans still might be. Will get some heat shrink and try that. Thanks!

If you check it with a test light and you have power up to that point but not inside at the points then that's the problem.

I see now i need more than the paper gasket i used now
It must be going to ground through bottom of distributor
              around stud.

That should be enough to break the current.

Do your self a favor and get the electronic ignition kit.

Good luck. I really like 8N's.

Made new heat shrink insulator for stud on distributor
and she fired right up! Should have checked with green
screen before rebuilding entire ingnition circuit! Im on vacation
and worked on this for 3 days. Thank you Hogslayer and Brooks!
Now time for some crappie fishing!

I had the same problem with my Ford 3000. Turned out to be a weak current to the coil from the ignition side of the switch. If voltage at the switch terminal is 12 or 13 volts it should read exactly the same on the other end of that three foot long wire. If it is less, run a new wire, preferably 10 or 12 gauge stranded with new terminals.

I did the same thing when that happened to me. I replaced everything and it still didn't run. My uncle came over with a test light and found it in 30sec.

                                Glad you got it running.
