    Javelina?

I would like to apply for a one of the Javelina draw hunts just to shoot one, but are Javelina good to eat?

Your going to get a lot of people say cook it and then eat the pan.

They make good sausage, great tamales, and if you know how to cook it they make a great meal.

    Tamales are my favorite

Sadly, I've never tried them. Couldn't get past the stink of those critters.

They're a lot better than most will give them credit for. Not my favorite meat by far, but definitely not the worst (i. e. ducks).

I have killed one. We ate it all. We are still alive. I can't remember what it tasted like. Gonna go kill another in Jan.

                It's all about the cleaning!

My son killed one last year at First Point. It stunk really, really bad...we didn't eat it but they do make awesome Euro mounts.

Good stuff, I shoot my 2 every year. Makes great carne guisada.

It's all about how you shoot, clean and take care of them.

We avoid it like the plague, but to each their own

The meat is good. Just be careful when cleaning to not contaminate the meat with the scent gland on the back.

I agree. Javis are fine, but I just cannot find a duck recipe that makes em edible!
