      I see them almost...

...every outing at the ranch. We kill only 2-3 rattlers a year. I think because of all the indigos & hogs (I hear they will stomp them dead and eat them too??)

Anyway, I usually catch the smaller ones for grins & will try and get some pics up next time the opportunity arises. I've seen them from 1ft long to I swear over 10 feet long and as big around as my thigh!!!

They are pretty doscile but I quit catching the ones over 4 feet cuz they will bite sometimes and it's amaizing how much blood they draw and for all those little teeth to come out.

Holy Mackrel thats a fat one! I seen one when i was about 12 coming home from school. Couldn't figure out what kinda snake it was...it went across the path i was walking on and then back across it(doubled back) and his tail hadn't even crossed the trail for the first time. Must have been almost 8 foot. Ain't nothin scarier than a rattler tho...

...but I don't thing the indigo is all that bad as some say.

It kinda grows on your or Maybe since I've been playing and catching them since I was a kid. The one in that pic is close to the largest I've handled but he got me. Still caught him but man those little teeth are hard to pick out.....like fine cacti.

I'm sure some of you have seen him, but that nut on the TV who catches all the poisonus snakes all over the world then takes close up pics is the biggest ding-dong I have ever seen!!

Not sure how you combine bravery & stupidity all in one. Fun to watch though.

I really need to get up to date on split second snake identification. I am not a snake fan and if I walked up on something that big the first thing I would do is look for something to kill it with. Being that they eat rattlesnakes that obviously would not be the smart thing to do

I'm glad we don't have those up here, I would need a change of clothes if I came across that black mamba lookin critter! I think I will just deal with the few rattlers we do have!
