Almost shot my neighbors dog yesterday

My wife and I were about to go into town and I was rolling the trash can in before we left and I look up and here he came. He looks like a lab mix but is bigger and is always jumping the fence of his yard. I happen to look over and see him in a full sprint coming straight at me. I was able to get the trash can in between me and him before he made it all the way to me. He bowed up and started barking and jumping around. Just as I reach for my carry gun he turned around and took off. The neighbor that owns him is VERY hard to deal with...I’m afraid it may get ugly if that dog does that again.

Imagine if it does that to your kid... call animal control

Can't say I'd blame ya. When people step foot in my yard past the fence and gate and the beware of dog signs then then they're on their own. But if that dog is running loose and on your property then that's not a good situation. Do you have kids?

Bad situation but i'll have no problem killing a dog that acts like that toward me.
If it act's like that toward me it is certainly a threat to my kids

That sux to have to worry about that, but I would let them know what had happened and let them know what might happen if that happens again.

I do have kids and fortunetly he hasn't been out while they have been outside. Other people in the area have called on that dog but nothing has really been done about it.

People get kinda weird/funny when ya tell them you're gonna kill their dog. Dunno why, but it seems to upset them because they seem to believe their dog is perfect and wouldn't harm a soul. Seems to me, the owners of the dog need to be shot a little...just birdshot, 20 yards?

My neighbors have a resuce dog that distrusts men. One day when walking down the road to check the mail the dog ran up on me and sunk a tooth in my calf and then ran off. The neighbors will just open the front door to let them use the bathroom around the neighborhood. I let it slide until one day it came running up after my small dog like it was gonna kill it. I thought it was just gonna run right through my front door till I slammed it in her face. Needles to say I went and got my .357 mag but the dog was back inside its home. Neighbors got it figured out now as I havent had issues since with the dog. If it comes after my dogs, myself or my family I have no problem with dispatching it. Just let them know if it comes after you again you are gonna take it out.

When you shoot it just keep it quite. Otherwise the self righteous will get on you because you shot a dog the desperately needed it.

Should not have to carry bear spray or taser when taking out the trash! But, this is a situation for animal control or a LEO to handle.

Perhaps you should meet the dog and have your kids play with him so they get to know each other.

                          Simple solution one would think.

You don't need a gun, LOL. Everyone is so **** scared these days. If you had ran towards the dog screaming he would have turned and ran.

                          Come on people. Toughen up.

He would have received a swift boot in the jaw to change his attitude.

I knew a guy years back. His neighbor had to German Shepards. They got out and bit his daughter. He went down to there house. And walked in there back yard with them in it and killed both of them. . No one said a word. Guess they thought they were next.
