Just make sure you crate is tied down correct that it can not move around. Those crates with dogs in them are like missiles in a wreck. I keep my orange juice boxes and freeze them with water. By the time we get some where she has all the paper chewed off and is licking on a block of ice.

Gunner use to ride in the back seat, but I also got tired of the hair, even covering the seat, the crap finds a way to get on everything. He's crate only now, even on long trips. When in the crate, it is shaded, and with a 70 mph breeze, it doesn't allow the heat to build up inside. If I stop for gas, I'll get him some water and let him run around a minute, but I don't make any special accommodations. He's always been just fine.

Is it the lab in your avatar? I would be more concerned about a lab that for example a blue lacy, just a thicker coat so they will get hotter. Even so, for a 3 hour trip I would make at least one stop and give the dog a chance to drink water and soak the dog with water.
I also like Change Up's idea.
