Might want to look into that.
Was told on another site that a lot of that money goes elsewhere.
I'll see if I can copy what was posted there. There was some links that showed where a lot of that money goes. Guess you could say "they" rob Peter to pay Paul!!!
Thats probably right on the money. I would be willing to bet that it isnt by choice of TPWD folks, It's probably our people in Austin diverting that money to other areas. I will tell you this though, The TPWD guys i dealt with on my sheep hunt were all top notch and better than any outfitter you will come across. Those boys dont do it for the money. They do it because its who they are.

I bet if you contact TPWD and ask where does the money go they will have to show you. I know I request from my congressman on the amount of money given to TX over the last five years from Pittman Robertson Act. You would be amazed at the amount of money the states are getting from this one act.

        Winner, Winner, Winner.
Yeah, all the hunts I've been on, I can't recall one where the people running the hunts were bad. All good folks.

Huh?, the flood has all the deer pushed onto those bordering landowners property, during the hunts it actually pushes those deer out of their refuge onto private land, best time to hunt.

True, particularly on the private land bordering RC. I was lucky enough to have a lease that backed up to RC a few years back when it was flooded. It had only been flooded for a few days just before opening day. Lucky for me, our lease was higher ground. On opening morning, I saw watched more than 40 deer go by before I shot a nice 10 pointer and was done by lunch time. Anybody that hunts Navarro county knows how rare it is to see that many deer maybe even an entire year. You will not see that many deer at RC on it's. BEST day! On another occasion, I was extremely blessed enough to be invited as a guest on a bordering ranch and it was common to see 200 deer a day. No worries about getting bored in a stand when you are so busy counting. Great memories.

I am going to buy Power Ball tickets when it gets to around $400 million. Better odds.

We have a relatively small ranch (600 acres), yet every season they want us to take about 25-30 deer off of it to keep the population within the carrying capacity. Then I look at the large parcels of land that TP&W manages, and they allow far far fewer animals harvested per acre. There can only be two explanations.
                          1. They just don't want to deal with that many hunters.
                          2. They are allowing personnel to take deer off of these properties outside of the draw hunts.
My bet is that both are occurring.
I would bet TPWD also gets a lot of pressure from adjacent land owners about the hunts, especially from the larger ranch owners, the one's with political pull.
