explains why Richland and Big Lake have no hunts
But the hunts are still over 3 months away. Doesn't make much sense not to even have a gun hunt. I know of a couple more places that were flooded as well, but the hunts are still a go.
With the decrease in archery hunts alone this year, I may not even put in for this year. All but one is scheduled during my days on at work anyways.
I used to put in for Kerr every year, till they dropped it for good!!!

Exactly, RC flooded this way in 2007 and the hunts weren't cancelled and were still held in the fall. Seems the area has been on the track to no hunting access since 1999 when they took took RC out of the APH program for deer hunting, they've been reducing deer permits every year since then. The only deer hunters they'll keep out in that area are the honest ones LOL

Wonder if the RC landowners are voicing their concerns about the hunts???

TP&W needs to start practicing what they preach. The small number of permits that they give out have always made me wonder. We have a relatively small ranch (600 acres), yet every season they want us to take about 25-30 deer off of it to keep the population within the carrying capacity. Then I look at the large parcels of land that TP&W manages, and they allow far far fewer animals harvested per acre. There can only be two explanations.
              1. They just don't want to deal with that many hunters.
              2. They are allowing personnel to take deer off of these properties outside of the draw hunts.
My bet is that both are occurring.

Nah, poaching by the game warden has reduced the population enough that there aren't enough deer to hunt.

Quick question - - I've never put in for any draw hunts but gonna give it a try this year. How many times can you put in for a hunt?

Not true ^^^. You can put in to every area within a category. But not multiple times in the same area. If that makes sense.

So like Gun Deer Either Sex, you can put in once for Daughtrey, once for Choke N Shore, etc.

Once per area but every area available under that cat.

I put in every year. Money goes to a good cause and if I get drawn I get to hunt an area I never would otherwise

It's a good cause. I would like to see TWPD post up the amount collected and how it's used. That information should be public right?

                                Good Cause Huh???
Might want to look into that.
Was told on another site that a lot of that money goes elsewhere.
I'll see if I can copy what was posted there. There was some links that showed where a lot of that money goes. Guess you could say "they" rob Peter to pay Paul!!!
