    Truck Leveling Kit Question

    Hey guys,

I want to level out my truck and I have encoutered a slight problem. I have a grill guard on my 2011 silverado 1500, and so the total difference between front and rear is 3 inches. Do yall think a three inch leveling kit will change the angles to much? or is it technically only moving two inches since one is due to the weight of the guard? I appreciate any tips yall might have!

If you use the 3" spacers nothing will change as far as angles because it goes above. I put 3" on my ram 1500 and all is good.

If it's 4wd a 3" leveling kit will murder your front end parts and good luck with an alignment... Heck even 2wd you will be replacing ball joints more than you will like.

Can you level a 2011 with just the torsion links? I raised my 2005 2500 front end with these

Not true.. You've changed the angles of your: Ball Joints, CV Shafts, Drag Link if you have one, Tie Rods.... etc.

His truck is coil-over shock front.
1/2 Ton Chebbies from 07 (newer body style) on are that way.

its a 2wd. I guess my real question is that even though it is a 3 inch kit, wont it only lift everything 2 inches becasue of the guard? or should i just go 2 or 2.5 and not have it really sit level?

Not true. No matter how your spacer is mounted it will change the angles on everything from axles, upper ball joints, tie rod ends etc... Not jumping on you just correcting you. If 4wd 2.5"is the max I would go. If 2wd you could probably get away with it bit you will go through upper ball joints like crazy and rough riding.

Just be safe and go 2 or 2.5.....the 3 inch will be really hard on the front end

Might want to try bilstien ride height adjustable shocks then, pretty good product. Used them on my new f150 4x4 and ride well.

i appreciate everyones input! I saw a kit from rough country that was a strut spacer, and also had a spacer that went under the bottom of the shock. Do yall know if there is an advantage to this instead of just a strut spacer?

I would think that the kit would raise your front end 3" regardless; you would just have 1" of rake left due to the guard.

3" is kinda high for a leveling kit on a half ton. I think that a 2" kit would put you nearly/visibly level.

I'm looking at the Bilstein 5100 leveling shocks for my truck.

I have the 2 inch that goes below the shock and it was easy to install and didnt have to take the front end apart. just un bolt the bottom of the shock and pry the shock up with a crowbar and slide the spacer in....just be sure and get an alignment after
