These appear to be really good fans and much quieter than the last I posted. I will be ordering two of the 107.4 cfm fans soon. 31db is about as quiet as I have seen.
I finally made me one of these redneck ac's this weekend with this fan. Ran it off a little 9v battery just to test it out and it worked crazy good and could feel the temp change from a good 5' away. Worked so well I ordered another fan earlier to make another ac before season. Curious to see what it will do hooked up with a 12v battery in a hot deer blind. I will upload pics asap.

Question I have for y'all that have built some already. How does the solar panel hooked up to a 12v left in your stand during the whole season work? I don't see any reason it shouldn't work well, i'm just curious as I plan on going this route.

Not the best pics, but there it is.

I was all about the solar panel idea but it wasn't needed for me. I have several extra batts. I can run the cooler and my over head fan around 12 hours strait, tested that. So If I'm in my blind 3-4 hours at a time 4-5 times a weekend one batt is all that's needed. I keep 2 in the blind and just take the weak/dead one back to camp and charge it.

I wont truly know until its run in a hot blind, but I could feel the cooler air blowing from 5' away with a 9v battery this past weekend. I expect more air flow with the 12v battery, so it should work fine. As soon as it gets truly tested i will report back.

My step brother and I were talking about this also. Thinking of going without the solar panel for now. Mainly only be used on weekends anyhow.

You won't need it. Just two batts and a charger at camp if you have electricity.

I'm on revision 3 or 4 of my redneck ac. Some of what's worked for me and what hasn't.

I started off with a 4 inch fan I bought at a truck stop with a variable speed control built into the DC cigarette lighter adapter.

My first attempt I used a piece of 2" pvc 90 that I had laying around as the exhaust. In my first build the exhaust vent was flush with the bottom of the cooler lid.

I found that the air didn't say in the cooler long enough to get a decent amount of cool air coming out.

I had another piece of 2'' pvc with a 90 on it and cut it so that the exhaust had about 6'' of 2'' pvc coming into the cooler. This caused the air to mull around for a bit longer before coming out of the exhaust and it was MUCH cooler.

The next problem I found (which should be obvious but I didn't really think about it) is that you are pulling really hot air into your cooler. Consequently your ice doesn't last very long at all. Within an hour the 4 two liter bottles I'm using have only about half the amount of ice in them they did when I started.

As a result I'd only get cold air for an hour maybe two, and the last one isn't really cold just tolerable.

I decided I'd add water and use a water pump to try and keep the air cooler longer.

To do this I coiled 1/2 tubing from the pump around my exhaust with a single line running down the middle of the exhaust returning water to the bottom.

As the ice in the water bottles melts the water stays cold. I now get between 4 and 5 hours of air between 55° and 75°.

Between now and next summer I'm going to replace the 2" exhaust with a 3" exhaust and see if I can make a copper coil to fit entirely inside the exhaust.

I also need to cut holes in the side of the exhaust or cut it shorter, because several times I've added ice and the melt causes the water to cover the opening for the exhaust vent which stops air flow.

Not too surprised your ice didnt last long pulling in really hot air. Thats one concern of mine. But im hoping that by using cube ice it will stay cooler and frozen longer. Even after it melts im hoping the water will stay cool for a good while. That being said, we'll see how it goes. My ac will double as a beer cooler as some others have done also.

You'd be a lot cooler if you did
