    Laminate or tile for house?

Re-doing the flooring in our house and trying to decide which to go with. I can install laminate myself but our slab is not 100% level so I worry about having "hollow" spots.

    What's your preference and why?

This is the tile that we like most so far.

Tile definitely. I just like the looks of it alot better. We layed tile just like that in a house not too long ago. If you do it yourself its time consuming no doubt.

Yeah I've done some small tile projects but don't have the time or patience to take this one on.

I actually bought all the laminate to do myself and when we got it home I realized they had changed it since the last time I installed it and it felt cheap and flimsy. Loved the look of it in the old house but you could tell it was laminate.

I have been in a new home for a couple years. I have both tile and wood laminate. I say go with tile. A professional can fill in the low spots that you have. The tile I have looks very similar to the one you have chosen. The wife and I love it. Everyone that comes to our home loves it as well.

Tile all the way. It will help if you ever decide to sell.

Awesome. It is a pretty good price for the tile but the labor is about $3/sqft. Does that sound reasonable.

We are redoing the master bath and used that. Looks awesome

I'll get a better picture later. The floor is covered right now because of sheetrock work

Not sure on the price of laying the tile but $3 per ft doesn't seem too bad for a pro to do it.

We are looking at doing the same thing and have the same delima; tile or laminate. We got a quote from Home Depot and they were nickle and dimeing us to death. The area to be tiled is only 300 square feet and the price of the tile alone was $917 for it all, but the total cost including installation was just over $3200.

I would get some quotes from local companies.

We've gotten our flooring and countertops done by local contractors (instead of big box stores ) and have had great results. Plus it feels good to support small businesses.

Laminate SUCKS! Lived in a house for two years with wall to wall laminate and it drove me absolutely crazy. God forbid you spill a drink on it and don't get it cleaned up in 2.5 airborne seconds. You'll see the spill mark for the rest of your natural born life.
