Does anybody not shoot their bow year round?

I haven't shot since my last trip in April...almost two months. But I will start shooting a few times a week and then pick up to daily as I get closer to my trip in August.

This is a long break for me, I normally try to shoot year round.

Haven't shot mine in several months either. I haven't ridden a bicycle in the same amount of time . . . :-)

In my compound days I usually hung up the bow at the end of turkey season and shot very little if any until September. Then I would start shooting about 4 times a week in preparation for the opener. When I went all traditional about 4 years ago, I started shooting almost daily, even if it is just a few arrows of form practice in the garage.

Try to shoot traditional as often as I can year round. Compound is just prior to hunting season and during season.

I typically shoot at least a few arrows every two weeks or more often but haven't shot at all since March this year.

I've been feeling the need and plan to start back in the evening this week.

I shoot year round but I also bowhunt year round. I know a fair amount of guys that fling a few arrows the week or so before season then head out to hunt. Not me, I love to tinker with archery stuff and like watching arrows fly.

I try to shoot a dozen arrows every couple weeks.

I was planning on it but kids had a way of derailing that plan! Lol

I just recently picked it back up again!

I haven't shot mine this November and probably wont pick it up until August/September.

However i'm not a "hardcore" bowhunter and don't mind shooting one with a rifle!

I used to, but there were several vacant lots around my house back then. Now the neighborhood is built out, and I have houses all around me. I could still shoot in my back yard, but I'd rather play it safe and not accidentally send an arrow into someone else's yard or window. If I shot in the yard, Zach would too. He's a pretty responsible kid, but he's still a teenager.

We go shoot every now and then at the range or at a big empty field not far from our house. But we don't shoot nearly as often as we used to when we kept some hay bales and targets up around our house. That's the only reason I haven't gotten into trad bows. I can get comfortable with my compound again pretty quickly, but shooting a long bow or recurve would be a different ballgame. I'm not gonna hunt with a bow that I'm not proficient with.

until last weekend, the last time I let an arrow fly, it went through that ram at the TT hunt we were on together.

I usually start shooting again about a month before whatever hunt is planned.
