Slight exaggeration, he is probably 4'6", but still plenty short. Looks really fat but doesn't show how long he was.

      Ohh boy....

On the last one, you can see his whole muzzle is out of alignment.

In the first two pics, you can see its pretty much cotton balls hot glued on top of the gaping seam!!!!

What's worse, is I spent $600 on this garbage, and waited well over a year!

Sadly, this was done by one of our very own members as well.

Thankfully, I found a great taxidermist named Mark Couture who is going to fix this disaster, and is a really nice guy to work with - a refreshing change of pace from this clown.

Hopefully I will have no other such disasters to report in the future!!
That mount looks terrible. Can you pm me who did this work?

Did you have him mounted in a straight line? Or in some kind of curled/striking position? They ALWAYS look shorter in a curled or striking position. I'm NOT trying to stick up for your taxidermist, just throwing that out there. And you mentioned he "looks really fat"...look on his belly and tell me if he has a gap where the skin was cut? I'm betting he does.

And for the record, I DID NOT MOUNT THAT SHEEP.

Correct! If you did, it wouldn't look like it smoked a fat crack rock then got in a fight with a bobcat.

I have an impala that was a nightmare. The first time it was done, it was horrible. There were bald patches that looked like they covered them up with shoe polish, plastic earmolds with no kind of putty or sculpting, and jacked up eyes. I got a 2nd cape and went to a new taxidermist. This was a good taxidermist. He sent the cape off to the tannery, and then when he got it back and started to mount it on a form, found that the cape was no good because of the way the drunk guy cut it to start with!!!!

I finally got yet another cape that was already tanned, and all is good now.

That one mount cost me about what 3 or 4 others put together did!

Sneaky, how many times did you try to get in touch with this "clown" of a taxidermist, to see if he might be able to rectify some of your concerns, before you blasted him on a public forum?

Based on some of your past responses, I'd guess you didn't.

Seems like this only came to light after the "clown" caused you some butthurtness.

Striking pose, and he does have the gap, Chance. I'd put a tape on him right now but he lives at my parents house. Same taxi has done some good work for my family, we just don't use him anymore because we developed a relationship with somebody else.

A gap like that is common on snakes and fish. Lets the guy use a bigger form. And it will take some length out of the original skin. A striking snake will measure a lot shorter than a stretched out straight one. Just something to think about. If the work is good, I'd be happy with it. Sounds like you have no ill-will toward the taxidermist.

                          Well I appreciate that but...

I'm curious about this also. Had it been mine, I certainly would have liked the opportunity to make it right. Maybe you gave him/her that chance?

I'm not a fan of the stitches, but I'm not really seeing much wrong with the horn color. Got any LDP's?

I don't have any pics of the worst taxi job I've received. Threw a 42lb bobcat in the trash. Got tired of it smiling at me.

Normally, I would have done exactly this. But, when said taxidermist replies with extreme rudeness when you politely ask for an update on how it's coming along (about once every three months), then proceeds to make public, libelous statements about you, this courtesy is retracted.

I'll find a LDP and post it up shortly
