I'm pickin up my first Friday. This thread has me nervous as I'm getting it from a guy who was a little cheaper than the big city shops. He has a ton in his shop ready and they are works of art so that helps. To his credit he had a little todo dog fully stuffed and I had to give that thing a second glance it looked so real. I'll post a pic of it Friday eve.
Bobcats seem to come out the worst. I have a friend that had two done by two different taxidermist and they are both terrible. I will see if he will send me a pic.
Buddy of mine paid $195 for a piece of driftwood and it came with a cartoon looking hooded merganser on it!!! When he dropped it off taxidermist didn't know what it was. Probably shoulda been his hint!!
I have a full-sneak axis that looks good from about 3 ft. away but closer inspection reveals a huge horizontal gash across the throat patch and the stitching in the seam across the back of the neck is showing. I quit using that guy...
Maybe one day I'll get a new hide and have it redone.
Weve all seen the bad pics online but who has legitimately had a really bad mount done???? Lets see some pics!!!!!!!
Here's my tragedy...
On the last one, you can see his whole muzzle is out of alignment.
In the first two pics, you can see its pretty much cotton balls hot glued on top of the gaping seam!!!!
What's worse, is I spent $600 on this garbage, and waited well over a year!
Sadly, this was done by one of our very own members as well.
Thankfully, I found a great taxidermist named Mark Couture who is going to fix this disaster, and is a really nice guy to work with - a refreshing change of pace from this clown.
Hopefully I will have no other such disasters to report in the future!!

Wow! It looks like a 7 year old caped and fleshed that thing! I didn't cut that many holes in hides my first week doing taxidermy!

Maybe the other ram that was killed was included in the price.
