I used to own the Shallow Stalker 20V (sold it when I went back to school). I liked the boat for the shallows and it had a reasonably smooth ride, much better than flat bottoms I've ridden on. If there was a heavy chop it was a rough wet ride if you didn't take the waves the right way. The other thing I didn't like was the V up at the front seemed to cut down on the usable fishing space quite a bit. After having sold the boat I've test driven a few cats and been very impressed. The speed and ride seemed better with the cat in comparison to the V hull and the layout allows for more fishing room with the same size boat. If/when I get another boat it will most likely be a cat. WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID I STILL MISS MY BOAT!!

Gotcha. I know that it was a sweet boat when it was a flat day out but if it turned rough that ride stunk.

You ought to consider looking at Dargel boats. Great boats, outstanding people and customer service too! I personally own a 186 Scout which is a flat bottom boat and it does it all! That said they have a variety of models with the beast of them all being their Kat boat. That thing rides rough or shallow...doesn't matter!

Amigo Ramiro, Muddybud on here has the 20V Shallow Stalker. For what he does he loves it. Ive used his boat myself and its not a bad ride. It is rough but not as rough as a flat bottom. His looks a lot like the one pictured above. Get with him for more details. He uses it a lot.

I haven't seen a stalker in person so I can't give any info on that boat. Looks similar to most tunnel v's though.

I owned the Majek 21 slam briefly. It had a 150 etec on the back and the perfect prop for that boat. Hole shot and mid range were awesome. Top end around 45 mph.

Fit and finish on the Majeks were very nice imo. I was really impressed with the way the boat was built for a production boat.

Out of these two boats the only thing you may want to consider is going with the 23' over the 21'. With the rise a tunnel v has on the front your space gets very limited. I would only fish three comfortable out of that 21'.

Another advantage to a longer tunnel v is breaking the chop in a longer boat. Your ride will be better. The 21' slam in a rough chop is tough. Plan on getting wet. No better way to put it.

Another thing I disliked about the tunnel v's was the steering. Even with power steering I felt like I was constantly fighting to steer the boat. Big turn off for me.

Overall I sold the boat and vent to a longer true v hull. Just wasn't the right set up for me, but a very nice boat fit and finish.

Hellrazor if you called yesterday sorry I missed you. I had a long work day at the deer lease and pulled in to the house at 9:30 last night. If you have any other questions about that boat give me a ring.

I own a 23ft explorer tunnel V, good friend of mine has a 24ft haynie cat. The cat bust chop soooo much better than my boat. Runs shallower, turns and handles much better and is faster. I wouldn't own another tunnel V style boat. Now a true v bottom boat would be a good choice but it's not going to run shallow.

If you are considering a cat vs a tunnel v I would lean on the cat today.

I've ridden in a 21' cat with a 250 pro xs on it and that thing would scoot the flats. With that said it still won't handle bigger water like a true v hull. Two different animals. The cat will have better room for fishing as well vs a tunnel v. We fished four comfortable out of that 21' cat. Heck before I saw the sticker on the side I thought it was the 23' version.

For the motor I would go with the max hp the boat will handle and you can afford. It's not all about speed. Torque makes a big difference jumping the boat out of the water. I know plenty of people including myself wishing I had put a motor on the next size up.

If you consider the shoalwater cat look into the Haynie cat as well. Poco runs a Haynie cat if he's still in it you may talk with him about how he likes that boat.
