I would go with Majek myself....nothing wrong with the shallow stalker at all though.

Are you sold on the V? No chance for a cat?

Yea am sold on the V just in order to have a better break on the chop.. But the cat is also an option just depends on the price, am looking at a 20ft stalker vs 21ft Texas slam.

The cat will probably take the chop better than the V, instead of busting through each wave the cat will stay on top and walk across the chop.

Go test ride both before you buy.

My buddy just sold his scb that was a cat hull. He is going to a v hull haynie. Galveston bay would eat his lunch in that scb if it was choppy out. Good idea with the v hull.

I like the design of the shallow stalker and that would be what I would go with but it depends on what kind of fishing you plan on doing. I think the majek Texas slam will be a smoother more versatile ride with the deep v but I don't think it will run quite as shallow as the shallow stalker.

Those are both tunnel Vs and will be rougher and wetter than a true V... a cat hull would be an option to look into. They should have a comparable ride. With that being said, I would go with the Majek. You see a ton of them on the water for a reason, quality and durability.

If it's long frequency between waves, yes, my SCB was rough in that. But if it's 2'-3' choppy close waves I still could run pretty fast and stay up on top where a v hull is slicing each wave. You get in the bigger stuff and all of them will be rough.

When I can buy one it will be a Majek. A friend of mine has one and it is a great boat.

the only thing about those boats that I don't like is they are a tunnel v and can swap ends pretty quick if you are not paying attention. Again this is just my opinion

Cabela had the Majek Texas Slam, might want to get with him to get his thoughts. He fishing down near Mansfield, POC and such.

Where do you plan on doing most of your fishing? If your not going to be fishing a big bay system I would go with the cat for sure also the tunnel V style boats are known for spinning out and swapping ends. Usually just when your trimmed up and try to turn but those style of boats have tossed a lot of people out over the years.

Like others said go ride on several on very windy days. I've been on some cats that were smooth and dry and some that were not, same with v hull. Just depends on how it is designed.
