Yes the hub had a cotter pin.

Like I said we have sandy soil. No rocks at all.

We have never used it to tow at all.

Its supposed to be a UTV and not something that I should have to baby. I wish I had parked it in the creek when we got all this rain. Its pretty annoying how many issues Ive had in the short amount of time.

It makes me want to sell it and buy a jeep.

Sandy ground will heat that belt up if you're going slow.

A stock machine should def not have to be babied.

You have to baby that belt. You should pull out quickly and then back off so as not to heat up the belt"

My juvenile humor got the best of me lmao, this made me laugh and I can't get my mind out of the gutter on this comment.

I am sorry OP, I have nothing of value to add to this thread, just got a kick out of some of the replies. Good luck figuring out what's wrong,

Did you put larger than stock tires on it? I've had a few similar issues with a mule running much taller tires than stock.

Sounds typical from what I read while researching sxs before buying one. Too many issues with drivetrain and front ends for me to consider a ranger. Seems like you get a good one or it's a ****.

I've got the same machine (2013 ranger crew 800) with almost 1500 miles and the only thing that I've had to replace was the carrier bearing on the front drive shaft (a known weak point). Either yours was rode hard and put up wet or you got a lemon. I'm going with the first option! Sounds to me like either it was abused and you didn't get the full disclosure on the purchase or the proper maintenance wasn't done to the machine. Mine has been solid from day 1 but has never been abused, through anything deeper than the front bumper and has been mostly used on dirt/asphalt roads and trail riding. Stock everything.

Sandy country will do that. I have a diesel crew and use the heck out of it and only replaced the battery.

Sister has same one and ever since they leased in east texas and got a lift on it they've had problems.

I heard as many bad stories as good stories about them. Went with the smaller Yamaha Rhino, I've beat the crap out of it on really rocky, really rough, really steep Hill Country. Hauled more than it is rated for and the only issue a front U joint is going out now.
