    Whats up with my Ranger?

I bought a used 2013 polaris ranger that seemed to be in great shape. It ran fine for a while.

One we blew through tires until we got some gortex ones. (not the ranger fault)

First issue was the hub. It came off with a wheel. Got that fixed.

Second issue was transmission. It had to be rebuilt.

Third issue the drive belt. It came apart.

Forth issue and current issue is a broken ball joint on the driver side.

What is up with this thing? Its used in Lavaca county so it sandy soil.

Did I just get a lemon?

i've had self-inflicted drive belt issues from towing too much weight while not in low. could've caused some of the other issues as well...good luck, I've run mine hard for 8 years and only had a handful of issues, none major.

May have been road hard and put up wet.....BEFORE you got it. Then, maybe not.

Sounds like whoever had it before did some serious towing on high.. Or climbing hills in high

The 900 has a stronger motor and transmission and isn't having these issues.

First - did the hub have the carter pin ? Luckily they are in expensive

Second - transmissions shouldn't break but have seen online the turf modes kill them. (I haven't had that experience with mine )

Third - belts are a wearable part

Forth - ball joints are also wearable but what do u mean broke ? As in broke in half ?

                Is the bike lifted ?

As long as you don't put it in reverse

Bike had 80hrs when i bought it.

Not sure on the carter pin.

200hrs the belt, ball joint and hub break?

                      it is not lifted.

Yeah I had a hub fall off only because I forgot to put the Carter pin in it . How did the hub break? Did it just come off ?

200 hrs doesn't seem like a lot to me , I've only had to replace wheel bearings but I'm at 50 hrs. Ball joints are fine alone with the belt.

If the cotter pin was missing the hub will back out and break.
Ball joint can go if ridden hard over rough surfaces.
You have to baby that belt. You should pull out quickly and then back off so as not to heat up the belt, in a case where you were not going to continue going fast.

Towing is really rough on the belt even in low gear. A Dirty Dawg clutch will help a lot.

There is definitely a learning curve on running them. They are great vehicles but you have to know all the little quirks.

I had to replace the front u joints in my 2011 xp 800 after only 50 hrs but other than that I've never had an issue
