RiverRat, I go out there often, not a pro and not set up for big sharks, but always happy to meet and fish with new people.
I have at least two reels that could land a big shark. I just didn't want to work on this trip. Maybe one day soon I will just head down there and try it. Or just hire Oz again LOL

Richard (Banzai), my son Paul, and myself are heading down again tomorrow to fish with Oz on an overnight trip Thursday/Friday. I may try to start it's own thread but it won't be live unless there's service down the beach where we end up (I hope not!).

BTW looks like I didn't post pictures of the last trip. On Erics site https://oceanepics.com/ 11 and 17th pictures down on the right side is two of the sharks Maui-Divers son and my son caught.

Now is the time for big tarpon - have Oz run something that may trick a poon?

Weather window is fine and sand, rains thru last week and this week, have the sand as good as it can pack, for AUGUST.

Should be a decent trip. Slow in the heat of the day - 80 wide for those 500 yard out sets to cover the heat of the day. Low light - around midnight to right at sunup = magic.

Good luck, take pics - you will not have cell coverage unless you climb the dunes behind - and even then, depends on where you setup?

This time of the year, closer to Port Mansfield jetties is the TICKET. Roaring 40s and the old wreck as well as the jetties proper.

Haven't run the sand this year one bit. Need to soon.

Poons bite in the middle of the day - jump on a yak and swim a free lined live bait - flouro clear leader.

They love to run that 2nd and 3rd bar this time of year thru the lower 50s

Kings will keep you in stitches - if you soon poons - kings will be circling looking for victims - it's the way it is but it is fun

Clear and no steel - you get bit

Steel and live bait - not so much

Mid day - clear water kinda PINS big fish action when it's hot
