    Guided PINS trip?

Does anyone do overnight guided Big Shell trips down PINS? I want to take my kids down the beach and try to catch sharks etc. Since I'm no longer set up for that sort of thing I' prefer get a guide. It would be much safer that way too.

Oz is probably the most recognized person that fishes PINS, I know he has caught everything from spinner sharks to big tigers and even greater hammers.

He would be my first choice

check with AtTheWall aka Rob on here. He fishes PINS all the time and knows it well. He would probably guide you for free just to have an excuse to go. And his main target is always sharks.

Yep. I fished years back with Billy Sandifer. Only time I've ever been down there. It was a great trip.

Oz is the only licensed guide on PINS since Billy retired.

Oz, If it's the same Oz I fished with him 16 or so years ago down there. Had no idea he started guiding. I'll have to get with him.

              Thanks guys

Jeff Wolda and Eric Ozolins both are licensed guides on PINS.

Billy Sandifer retired and talked Eric into taking over his business.

Jeff started guiding a few years ago, and he's a LIGHT TACKLE guide\guru. Jeff is more of a day charter kind of guy.

Eric Ozolins (OZ) is a HEAVY TACKLE guide\guru. He prefers to shark fish and he's active in the Sharkathon and Shark tagging programs along PINS. Oz will do overnighters.

Billy Sandifer was a LIGHT TACKLE guide who retired. He would charter shark trips but he was more into light tackle, fly tackle and sight casting and working sand contour structure for specks, reds, kings, tarpon, pompano - using lures. Billy during his later years, was a half day to full day charter with no overnighters.

Billy Sandifer guiding a day trip, light tackle and lures. He typically rolls with fly rods mounted on this truck, off the front hood and up over the cab, rigged ready to rock! Snapped this when I was down on an extended PINS solo trip, camping and sharks at night and rolling sand and chasing prey during the day. Fishing the 50s here.

Forgot about Jeff. Never fished with him. David Green use to guide, down there too, but I think David is a bay guide the last I heard of him.

I was down there for the last 5 days. I didnt venture out to far as there were a few soft sand patches, but I only have 2 wheel drive. Not really the car for that area. But man...Was the water flat..flat...flat!! I even paddled a kayak to a rig in front of mustang beach and it was unreal!!! about 20 ft vis and fish all over the place. Ready to go back next week. Keeping an eye on the weather.

We went with Oz on an overnight trip. Had to make it all the way to the 52 mile mark to get to good water. We went ahead and passed it and checked out the jetties. Then we fished around mile 53. Water turned perfect Monday around 10 am. My son Paul caught a 4'5" shark at 11am. He was the bait catcher and caught a bunch of good sized whiting (a couple big ones 13-16").

Then we had out ray, whiting etc on 4 rods way out between 100 and 300 yards. Then around 3-4pm Paul reeled in a 4'11" shark that hit some ray. Tide was heading out fast at this point and I thought it would be a long time before another pick up unless we got one fast.

Nothing else and we rebaited (Oz did) with great baits right before dark. Once it got dark swarms of mosquitoes came out so we jumped in our tent. Everyone was dead tired anyway and lines were baited and rigged to an alarm. Alarm trigger twice in the night but it was just weeds.

At daybreak we re-bait but surf was getting rough. Tide was way high again. We had high hopes but weather got real bad. High winds came in from the south making a sandblaster from the loose sand. Didn't feel too good. We ended up waiting it out in the truck until 11 am. Kept good baits out until 1-2 pm and then packed up and headed back.

It was a great trip. Kids rated it a lot higher than trips that cost a lot more money Wife didn't care for the over night way down the beach part but she was happy once we got back to the hotel again.

Kids got to experience it all. High tides, low tides, low winds/perfect waves, high winds, very rough surf, clear water and dirty water. Watched the water turn green and then get dirty again. No bugs then lots of bugs. Cloudy skies in the day and night, and then clear skies and cloudy at night LOL... We saw it all AND caught a couple nice sharks.

And I did fish with Oz before like 18 years ago. Going to use and abuse him again. It was nice to have someone do all the work while I get to relax. And he loves his job, that's for sure.

By brother caught a 6'4" bull a few weeks back fishing with Oz.

RiverRat, I go out there often, not a pro and not set up for big sharks, but always happy to meet and fish with new people.
