    Echo Trimmer Won't Start

    Background:
    1. SRM 265T
    2. Engine seized up two years ago.
    3. Eventually got it 'un-seized' and started it up. Ran it awhile.
    4. Next time I tried to use it, no start.
    5. Has sat the past year as I had another trimmer to use.
    6. Finallly, figuring the carburetor may be the problem, installed new one.
    7. Spark plug has spark (so plug, kill switch, ignition coil are working)
    8. Gas is not old, has additive to counter ethanol, etc.
I loved this trimmer and don't want to spend another $400 for a new one.
    Thoughts?

I use the pre mixed gas in mine. It runs like a top.

Was it running when it seized up as in piston came to a sudden stop?

I don't remember - my son was operating it.

Yup. I would look here and then pull out the spark plug...pour a cap full of gas in there...a quick spray of starter fluid in the intake and give it a pull. Ive had mine for years and am like you, would hate to have to replace that beast. good luck man

Sounds like possibly piston and/or piston ring damaged. Piston may be scarred up.
Don't remember if all late Echo engines have chrome plated cylinders or not.

I recently had to replace the carb on my echo trimmer as it had set up for a year and was bad. I would also replace the fuel lines, and grommet in the fuel tank. The will get brittle and not seal properly.

                        Sorry, but this.

Cost more up front, but less breakdowns, cranks every time, and less cussing.

Would piston issues keep it from starting, or just make it run poorly?

I'm not sure how this advice could possibly help me get my trimmer started. Probably much more appropriate for a thread seeking advice on a trimmer purchase.
