Stone Oak is nice but traffic is a nightmare. Helotes is nice. I'm off of 1604 close to Braun and I like that area a lot.

Not really, most the flooding is north of us along the blanco and San marcos river watersheds. Downtown SA floods more often, along with the Olmos Basin.

Traffic is not that bad coming up 281. The 410/35 traffic is way worse.

They have opened several new bike trails around town on the drainage creeks. O P Schnabel and Goverment Canyon have the off road stuff. Both of those are fairly close to the medical center. There are plenty of nice areas inside 1604 that would be a nice commute for her. Rent a place near there and spend some time driving the neighborhoods and get a feel for the place. There are plenty of good areas within 30 minutes that have good schools.
