    Possible San Antonio Relocation

Well my wife and i might be relocating back to Texas this year, hopefully to San Antonio if things work out from Kentucky.

Ive visited there growing up tons, and hung out there on weekends when we lived in Waco, but mainly on the North side.

Where are some places to look for living, she will be working at the UT health science center, i don't have a job yet. I like the North side as we are both cyclist, and it cuts down on the drive to our Ranch up near Waco, and is pretty, but am open to anything.

We will probably look to rent the first year, then try and buy the next, would love a couple acres to buy but we will have to see.

    Any help appreciated

The Stone Oak area. It's right near everything and a very nice part of town.

I just moved here to San Antonio Bc my goes to the med center for school. We are living on the west side near I10 and DeZavala. We looked all over on the W/NW side Bc of the availability to the med center. IMO by far the best area of town. We liked out towards Boerne back up to 281 north. Lots of nice area with wooded lots and trees everywhere. Best public schools for San Antonio are in the Northside ISD.

I will say the stone oak area is very attractive, but man Real estate and rental houses on the North and west side of town are our of this world.

I say that coming from Dallas originally then Waco where i could get anything i wanted under the sun for less than 1600.

                Don't try Austin then. LOL.

Saying Dallas is cheap is painting with an awful broad brush. Areas of DFW are some of the highest/top areas in the country. Highland Park for example.

I pay 1300 for a 2000sqft rental. Just gotta look hard. But prices are higher Bc of the area.

I'm from the North Dallas, Plano area so not in the cheap part.

Our ideal type place, is what we had in Waco a 2 bed, 2 bath town home, two car garage with a yard. We dont have kids or anything so don't need a huge place, but i have lots of tools so the garage is a must. Anything like that in the area?

We would most likely settle with a apartment as long as it had a garage to store tools, and work on building feeders and my truck.

Stone Oak area is a long commute to the med center, imo. I would look around Helotes/UTSA area for a rental but when you are ready to buy a couple acres maybe think about Fair Oaks Ranch/Leon Springs area. I live near Alamo Ranch/Sea World on 3/4 acres, very peaceful and quiet but probably more south of where you want to be. I work in the med center and have about a 30-35 minute commute but I can hop on 1604 from my house and be south bound to my lease in Medina county in no time.

I relocated to Helotes from Stoneoak due to traffic. I drive 1.5x the miles in half the time. Stoneoak Traffic is the worst.

I relocated to SA 5yrs ago and love it. Coming from Houston where all traffic sucks, SA was a nice relief from that. However, be prepared if you go to Stone Oak to sit in some traffic sometimes. That 281 area north of 1604 blows with all those crazy turn lanes and U-Turn crap... I bought my house 2yrs ago around Jones Matlsberger in between Thousand Oaks and Bitters and love the area. Some older houses mixed in with newer ones, mine was built in 2004. I work right by the airport so my commute is 10 min at most. I do really like the Boerne and Helotes area as well. Good luck on the move!
