Thai food is really varied but delicious: noodles, curries (different from Indian and Chinese curries), other meat/veggie dishes that are skillet made. I personally love the cuisine, and you don't always have to worry about getting it too hot because most places have a hotness scale (1-5 or so) that you can order the food at. The curries (red, green, yellow, and panang) use coconut milk, which can be a little rich for some people.
Overall, don't be afraid to try new food, you can always ask the waiter for a recommendation.

LOVE Thai food. I got spoiled when I spent 3 weeks north of Bangkok a few years ago. It's frustrating trying to find good authentic Thai here. Most is just extra spicy Chinese. I do better cooking it on my own than any place I've tried over here.
Tonight I am making a spicy Thai noodle bowl. Broth made with beef marrow bones, star anise, coriander, cloves, mustard, ginger, and sambal chili paste. I sliced some venison steaks into paper thin strips and marinated in corn starch, soy, ginger, garlic powder and chili paste. I fried those in peanut oil until crispy. I will put the crispy venison strips in a bowl and top with the broth then add bean sprouts, chili paste, crushed garlic, green onions, shredded carrots, tomatoes, Serrano pepper slices, cilantro, the juice of 1 lime, and noodles. Awesome!

Have you tried Nidda thai?

Everything I love has been covered. The soups, red curry, green curry, yellow curry, pad thai, and pad se ew.
For you Dallas area folks, if you have ever been to Thailand or SE Asia and want to "re-visit" your memories..... go to the Buddhist Temple on Stults Rd on Sundays. It's fantastic. If you need/want more info, go to watdallas.org. It is a pretty cool "secret" spot I loved finding out about and visiting.
