I never understood the going to jail thing. Except for just plain dead beats, if your working and doing the best you can to support your family and come up a little short now and then, why get thrown in jail? My son's ex left him and took his son with her. Now he has 2 other children that he has custody of and is doing his best. If he get's thrown in jail, all it does is ruin his life and the ex still don't get any money and probably never will again. The AG has worked with him and have been very helpful. It's CPS you got to worry about. They're just plain evil.

For those of you on good terms with your ex, ask her to fill out the form that will turn their monitoring off, pay her directly, and get them out of your lives. The only time the AG is involved is when she or her atty fills out the form getting them involved, and the attys will do it by default.

If it was an ugly breakup, its stil worth a shot to get them off your back. Each county is run differently, and pretty much, each courtroom controlling this dept runs it differently. I hated dealing with them. Never answer the phone, never got the same answer twice, and worse than dealing with the dmv

I don't think it's a default setting, I'm pretty sure it's in the Texas Family Code that requires it, but I could be wrong.

Another messed up thing about the system is I believe the state receives federal road (?) money based on the amount of child support they collect. So the higher percentage of child support paid, the more federal money they get. They ain't going to give that money up easily. It's a crap system, but if there weren't the deadbeats out there that abuse the system, then the 90 percent or whatever of folks trying to do the right thing wouldn't have to be punished.q

I've been on both sides. Nothing but a bunch of man haters down there. I went down to the office in Conroe to attend a orientation class on how the system works for custodial parents. I was the only man there and was told I was in the wrong place and to leave the room. I said no I'm in the right place you can continue lol !

The ex was behind 8 months on her CS and all I got was "well she's probably doing the best she can". They are the most incompetent bunch I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

If they truly went after the people who didnt pay, i have a cousin that would have been in prison a long time ago.

You can't just turn it off. Been trying to get child support dropped for 3 years now. I owe like 18000 in back child support for a kid that lives with me. I refuse to pay them and it keeps adding up. I call them at least once a month and attend every meeting I can get set up. They basically refuse to do anything but give me the run around.

I'm confused, is this thread complaining about those people that have to pay child support? If it is, Man Up!!!

Or, is this thread simply about the process and all the shortcomings at the AG Office? If it is, then yes, their system is slow and flawed.

Nope, they have an agenda and do what they want. Go into an office and all the literature and posters are anti male.

The ex wife is supposed to pay CS, hell I gave her a huge break and agreed to 400 instead of the 900 plus it was supposed to be. The AG office ignores the court order and won't enforce it.

Nope. He's your husband in law. Should you divorce your wife he becomes ex husband in law. It used to pizz my husband in law off when I called him that. Now that my ez divorced him he calls me his ex husband in law and wants to be best friends.lol

Yes they follow the order and they do enforcement also. I didn't have to do anything just got a letter in the mail one day telling me about them starting enforcement. All I had to do is show up at court showing I had insurance on my son and say I haven't gotten any cs that's it.. I love the ag office and have nothing but good to say about them!!

3 more months. Then I pay for college which wasn't saved for due to the 1500/mth + insurance.

Boy I'm glad I don't have to deal w them or my X anymore !! We got it set up to do direct deposit or they took direct from me. When she would call all upset because she didn't get a check. Sorry to say but you need to call the AG Office.

PS.. Just a FYI !! All the paper work that the AG Office sends you make sure you fill it out and send back.. When my check became more than what I was used to seeing and my company said that the AG Office sent paper telling them to stop withdrawing CS. Then the AG Office found their mistake and then sent a letter to me telling me they were taking more because they said I was late due to their mistake.. Well then I found out that the X didn't fill out paper work that they asked her for... ONE BIG PAIN IN THE A !!!!
Glad I'm dealing with them anymore !!
